Buhari may lose Borno State — Sen. Ndume cries out

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Southern Borno at the National Assembly, has decried the challenges facing his constituency, saying there is no single federal government institution in Borno South.

He lamented that over 300,000 people were suffering from lack of portable water and motorable roads in southern Borno.

Sen. Ndume, who spoke in Maiduguri, at the weekend, said his senatorial district was the most neglected in the country.

“We have the highest number of people who go to school in Borno, yet no single tertiary institution,” he said.

Senator Ndume said thousands of people displaced from the zone by the Boko Haram were willing to return home if the Federal Government could rise up to the challenges afflicting them.

“Our biggest challenge is going back home; many of our people have children out of school for about four years now. Our people are suffering because their sources of livelihood have been crippled. We gave them promises that by May this year they will go back home but from the look of things, that would not be possible.

“We commend government for efforts at taking back home our people from Ngoshe, Ashigachi and Kirawa but there is pressure on Pulka especially the challenges of water,” he said.
