Frustration: Another woman jump into lagoon in Lagos as police begins investigation

The Lagos state police command on Monday said it had commenced investigation into the report that an unidentified lady allegedly packed her car on the third mainland bridge and jumped into the lagoon.

Chike Oti, command’s spokesman, told NAN that though the police had not received any official report, they were already making efforts to find out the true story.

He said the report of their investigation would be made public.

“There is no official report yet. It is the news making the rounds. However, our rescue team is searching, divers and marine policemen are working,” he said.

“Investigation is ongoing, findings will be made public please.”

There are conflicting reports about the incident. While some said it happened around 5pm on Sunday, others said it was around 8:45pm.

The identity of the victim could not be ascertained on different online platforms where the issue was raised.

There were reports of the victim being a man. While, some said she took a taxi to the scene of the incident, others said she parked her car on the bridge and dived into the water.

The police finding is likely going to address the situation.

Last year, Alwell Orji, a medical doctor said to have suffered depression, ended his life in a similar manner.

He had plunged into the lagoon on a Sunday afternoon.
