Only looters are against Buhari’s second term ambition, says Kalu

The second-term ambition of President Muhammad Buhari has continued to gather support as Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and President of Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on Friday in Kano vowed to make it a personal project.

Ganduje, who before now has promised to deliver Kano for Buhari with over five million votes, also promised to ensure that Buhari scaled through at the party primaries, should in case anybody challenge him.

He supported his promise with facts that Kano has the highest number of delegates at party conventions and primaries, numbering about 400.

Chief Orji Kalu visited Ganduje with a gift of two plaques in appreciation of his full support to the Buhari 2019 second term project and his ability to maintain peace in Kano, hitherto known for its volatility.

Orji Kalu also took a swipe at politicians plotting against the second-term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that they have a sinister motive to continue looting the country blind.

His mission to Kano was to canvass support for President Buhari’s second-term project.

He urged Kano people and Nigerians to throw their weight behind the President and appreciate the reforms he has initiated to take Nigeria to greater heights.

He visited Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and presented a plaque of peace and another plaque to recognize his consistent support to the Buhari second-term project.

He also visited the Emir of Kano, His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi 11.

Orji Kalu commended Ganduje for his firm support to President Buhari’s project and maintenance of peace and harmony in the state, also urged Kano residents to support the second-term bid of President Buhari and Ganduje.

According to him, Ganduje deserves commendation for his support to Buhari, adding that it was commendable for Ganduje to ensure peace in Kano in his three-year old administration, despite the insecurity being faced by neighbouring states.

“Those opposing Buhari coming back for the second-term wants to loot the treasury of Nigeria.

“They don’t want us to save money for the poor people. There cannot be Christmas and Sallah every day. We don’t have Sallah every day. They have looted enough; they should allow the masses to benefit.

“So, this is why we are here. We will continue to ask you (Ganduje) not to leave President Buhari. He is our President and we are going for four plus four equals to eight. And also for you, four plus four is equal to eight,” he stated.

Governor Ganduje thanked Orji Kalu for the honour accorded to him, assuring him that President Buhari’s project is Kano’s project in which he would not hesitate to accomplish.

He further stated that, “you are most welcome to Kano state and in particular, Kano state Government House. Before you came to Kano, our radar captured you all over the country. My radar informed me of your project–that is the Buhari project.

“The Buhari project is our own project here in Kano. So, you are doing something that evolved from Kano, flourished here in Kano. So, by coming to Kano with this project, I can tell you that you are coming home. So, we are here because we are partners in progress.

“Buhari never lost election in Kano, even when he was in the opposition. At one time we were in government, and he was in the opposition, and Buhari won his election here in Kano. Since he started politics in Nigeria, he has not lost election in Kano.

“So, this time around, his chances are much higher because before he was in one party and the state government was in another party. But this time around, he is the Mr. President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under APC and I am the governor of Kano state and I am in APC.

“So, you can see all the variables that can make him win election are rightly placed here in Kano. So, we know there is no vacancy for any presidential candidate in the Villa except Buhari.

For your information, it was here in when Buhari came for a two-day state visit where we were holding a meeting of stakeholders and we told him that we will take him to court if he decided not to contest election. And luckily enough, he escaped our litigation. He succumbed to our request and our pledge and he accepted to contest election.

“So, a state that offered that kind of threat and he accepted to contest election, is a Buhari state. Secondly, Kano state has the highest number of delegates. We have over 400 delegates for the convention and any primary, so, you can see that Kano is a minimum of three states together.

“So, you can see how important we are. Luckily enough, Buhari is Kano and Kano is Buhari. I think that is the political language here.”

Ganduje also informed Orji Kalu that in spite of the spate of insecurity in some states such as herdsmen/farmers clash, Boko Haram, cattle rustling and kidnapping, Kano has remained peaceful.

He added that his government formed Interfaith Committee where Muslim Ulamas, Christain leaders and community leaders meet from time to time to discuss peace and harmonous relationship among residents in the state.

According to him, in Kano, there is nothing like non-indigene, “all residents are considered to be bonafide indigenes of the state and they are treated equally. In my administration, all of them are well represented
