Anxiety in APC as nPDP decides this week, May finally pull out from APC

There are indications that the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are becoming apprehensive following a declaration by members of the nPDP that it will take final decision on their continued membership of the party this week. It is being speculated that the nPDP will announce its members’ pull out from APC.

Leader of the nPDP, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje had issued a statement in lorin, Kwara State, notifying Nigerians that the long wait about the group’s political future is over as they will make their stand known to Nigerians this week.

According to the statement released from his media office in Ilorin, Alhaji Baraje said that members of the caucus are meeting time to time and he believes that before the end of this week they would have finished their consultations and come out with their stand on all what they stood for “which is not for personal gains but rather in the general interest of the downtrodden masses.”

He emphasised that the cooperate interest of the citizens of this country and a united Nigeria where no man is oppressed is paramount and very dear to their hearts.

“Alhaji kawu Baraje appreciates Nigerians who have always seen reason for their struggle particularly the media for adequately reporting their activities”, the statement added.

It would be recalled that members of the nPDP had earlier complained to the former leadership of the party about how they were sidelined in the scheme of things which prompted the intervention of the presidency.

However, while the peace talks with the presidency was on-going, the Nigeria Police came up with allegations that one of the leaders of the nPDP, Senator Bukola Saraki is linked with the Offa robbery, asking him to present himself for interrogation.

This move to humiliate the Senate President infuriated members of the nPDP who pulled out of the peace parley with the presidency “to consult with their other members.”

Members of the nPDP also complained that majority of them like the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara and former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were shut out from the recent congresses of the party.

A chieftain of the APC who craved anonymity said the new chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and other members of the National Working Committee are “deeply” concerned about threats f defection by nPDP members and would do everything possible to forestall it.

He declared that it will be a bad omen for the new leadership of the party if the nPDP is allowed to dump the party with their members that include state governors and lawmakers at the state and national level.

“It is going to be an acid test for our national chairman and we are all watching to see how he resolves the issues with the nPDP members,” he said.
