Melaye escapes another assassination attempt, as gunmen open fire on his car, lay siege on his home


The Senator representing Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye Thursday allegedly escaped another assassination attempt on his life as unknown gunmen allegedly open fire on his car.

This is the third time the senator is being attacked. The first was in his country home, the second in Lokoja and now in his country home again.

The whereabout of the senator who is also the Chairman Senate Committee on the federal capital territory is yet to be be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

The senator who arrived Kogi State on Wednesday said he was in his constituency to commission over 145 projects executed by him.

It was reliably gathered that the Senator was on his way to Isanlu in Yagba East local government council to commissioned some projects when some armed men prevented him from entering the town.

The Source disclosed further that Senator Melaye who left his country home at Ayetoro-gbede on Thursday morning met road block with heavy truck shortly before Isanlu as the yet to be identified gunmen equally set up burn fire with tyres blocking any one from moving into the town.

Melaye sensing danger made a u-turn back to Ayetoro-gbede with his entourage. However, on arriving his country home, the armed men allegedly attacked his convoy, open fire on his bullet proofed Mecedez Benz Jeep as residents scampered for safety.

It was equally gathered that the yet to be identified armed men numbering over thirty allegedly took over his house shooting, scaring people away as people in the community have to desert the town to avoid the wrath of the dire devil.

However, some of his projects located in Lokoja which were to be commissioned by the senator was razed down by some thugs.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) in charge of Kogi State Police Command, Mr. William Ayah when contacted said his office was yet to be contacted about the incident.
